From Nine-to-Five to Full-Time Vibes: Why I Took the Leap

A year and a half ago, I walked away from the safety of my nine-to-five.

I’d spent years climbing the corporate ladder—sales, business development, account management. I worked hard, I cared about what I was doing, and I always tried to be the best version of myself in those roles. And for that, I’m grateful. The experience, the people, the lessons—it all shaped me.

But here’s the thing: every morning I’d find myself in the same place, lining up for the bus at peak hour with the rest of the city, shoulder-to-shoulder with people just trying to get through another workday. And I’d look around with respect. Because these people? They’re doing what they have to do. They’re grinding it out for their families, pushing through because that’s what’s expected.

But deep down, I knew it wasn’t for me anymore.

I didn’t want to wake up in 10, 20, 30 years and think, “What if?”

So, I took the biggest risk of my life. I left the corporate world behind and stepped fully into my passion: working as a DJ and MC.

And let me tell you—my life has completely changed.

Running my own business hasn’t been easy. There are late nights, early mornings, and plenty of moments where you question yourself. But the freedom, the energy, the chance to create unforgettable nights for people—it’s worth every second.

I don’t regret it for a moment. In fact, I can honestly say there’s a better place on the other side.

Here in Australia, we’re lucky. We’ve got opportunities that so many people around the world could only dream of. If you’ve got a goal, a vision, or something you’re truly passionate about—why not take the shot? At least try. Because if you never do, you’ll never know what could have been.

Leaving the nine-to-five was the scariest thing I’ve ever done. But it’s also been the most rewarding. And if you’ve ever thought about chasing your own dream, let this be the sign: go for it.

Because life’s too short not to love what you do.
