Gunners Barracks is one of the most unique wedding venues in Sydney — and one of my personal favourites.

Perched on the edge of Sydney Harbour in Mosman with uninterrupted views of the water and the city skyline, it's a venue that genuinely stops guests in their tracks. I've played weddings here and the reaction when people walk in is always the same — pure awe.

What I've learned playing there

The harbour setting does something magical to a room. Guests arrive already elevated — the view, the history of the building, the salt air — and my job is to match and then build on that energy. I never rush the early part of the night at Gunners. Let the room breathe, let the view do its work, then bring the energy up gradually and purposefully.

The venue has specific sound requirements given its heritage listing and harbourside location. I work within those parameters carefully — clean, controlled sound that fills the room without any bleed outdoors.

Music considerations

Gunners Barracks couples tend to be Sydney inner-city or North Shore — often with strong music taste and high expectations. I love that. These are the couples who send me a detailed brief and I deliver something that feels personal rather than generic. Sophisticated cocktail hour, considered dinner set, and a dancefloor that goes from zero to full send right on cue.

Gunners Barracks is in Mosman, approximately 20 minutes from the CBD. No travel surcharge applies for this one.
